Hi y’all!   Sorry I didn’t send out Thankful Thursday last week - thank you for asking and caring that it was missing. You warmed my heart!

I’ve got a bunch of excuses.   Want to hear them?

1.  It was a busy week prepping for all my new classes that started this week and last.

2.  I got to babysit my sweet Tru on Wednesday 💜...which took precedence, of course!

3. We got our Whitty off to college last week.

BUT,...the real reason was that I wanted to write something of my own, rather than just share an excerpt from someone else’s excellent writing.   And, well, writing something myself is a bit daunting to me😬      However, it’s worth sharing so here goes. 🤞🏼

A week and a half ago I had several disappointments.   I was trying not to be disappointed, but I was having trouble shaking the heaviness I felt.   As I contemplated talking about it with Gil, the words I began to express were, “I had my heart set on...”.

Well, that stopped me in my tracks!    My heart was set on something other than the hope that I have in Jesus Christ!   And THAT is why I was disappointed!!    It wasn’t about my circumstances!!   It was 100% about what my heart was set on!

Sometimes I try to act like my heart isn’t set on other things, but whenever there is disagreement, dissatisfaction, fear, hopelessness,...that is my cue to search my heart!    On what is my heart set?

Let’s work on this together!    Let’s keep our hearts and minds set on the Lord and Savior of our lives.   He loves us more than we can fathom!   His plans for us are FAR better than we could ever dream up for ourselves!   He is good and worthy of our trust!    Let’s set our hearts and minds on HIM!!!

Thanks for reading! 😘

Luke 12:29

“And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it.”

 Colossians 3:1-4

“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.“
